1. Prepare Tools and Materials First
Gather essential items before fixing the layflat hose. You’ll need a sharp utility knife, sandpaper (80-120 grit), layflat hose repair tape or a repair patch, and a clean cloth. Wipe the damaged area of the layflat hose with the cloth to remove dirt, sand, or water—this ensures better adhesion for repairs.
2. Cut and Smooth the Damaged Section
Next, locate the hole or tear on the layflat hose. Use the utility knife to cut out a small, neat section around the damage; make sure the cut edges are straight. Take the sandpaper and gently sand both cut ends of the water discharge hose. Sand until the edges feel slightly rough—this helps the repair material stick tighter.
3. Apply Repair Tape or Patch
Then, cover the damaged area with layflat hose repair tape. Wrap the tape around the hose tightly, overlapping each layer by half the tape’s width. For larger tears, use a layflat hose repair patch. Peel the patch’s backing, align it over the damage, and press firmly for 30 seconds. Ensure no air bubbles are trapped under the tape or patch.
4. Test the Repaired Layflat Hose
Finally, check if the repair works. Reconnect the layflat hose to the water source and turn on the water slowly. Inspect the repaired area closely for leaks. If no water seeps out, the layflat hose is ready to use. If leaks persist, repeat the steps or replace the repair material for a tighter seal.
