Silicone is a great material for it’s great properties. Thus it becomes more and more popular in all the industries. However, there is special standard for it in food industry. For example, it should be nontoxic and odourless. However, some suppliers pass normal silicone off as FDA silicone. Thus you should know the difference between them.
How to check FDA silicone
You can check them in three ways. First is the color. Normal silicone is semi-transparent, but the food grade silicone is high transparent. Second is the smell. There is a light smell from normal silicone hose, but food silicone hose is entirely odourless. Last is the tear resistance. Normal hose will turn white after being pulled, while food silicone hose will not.
Features of FDA silicone hose
It absorbs quality food grade material and special extrude tech. Thus it’s flexible with high tear resistance. Besides, it resists twist and will never distort. It can work at 240℃ for long term and remains flexible at -60℃.
Electric insulation
The insulation, especially at high temp is much better than other rubbers. While the insulation strength is immune to temp from 20-180℃.
Excellent weather resistant
FDA silicone hose resits UV and ozone. Thus it will not crack in outdoors for long term. Generally, it can service over 20 years.

Difference between general and platinum silicone
