When choosing antiager, you should consider many factors which are important for the products quality.
What’s the raw rubber you choose
Antioxidant has similar effect in NR, IR, SBR, NR and NBR, though they have different aging resistance. The ozone and torsion resistance is also similar but a little different, like NBR is more easier to be attacked by ozone and the torsion and tearing resistance of 4030 in BR is better than it in NR. Compared with high unsaturated rubber, the antioxidant has less effect in low unsaturated rubber like EPDM. In this condition, you’d better choose RD and MB type antioxidant. In peroxide vulcanizing system, you should think about the interaction between antioxidant and peroxide. The best antioxidant in CR vulcanized rubber is 3100. MB type antioxidant has promotion function while RD type antioxidant will reduce the safety.
If there is non-staining or contact stain requirement
For the antioxidant, there are heavy pollution type (4020), moderate pollution type and non-staining type (BHT, DS). All of the amine products will migrate and the migrate degree of RD is the most small. Non-migratory is satisfactory but without fracture resistance.
The problems you have to avoid
How to avoid surface problems like fracture, pulverization and cracking and product problem like hardening, softening and strength loss? All of the products have aging and oxidant resistance in different level, so they are classified by protective surface effect. There is no product has excellent bending and fracture property, so you should consider the rubber type, if there need protecting wax and many other factors.
How does anaerobic ageing work
Antioxidant can’t offer protection during some thermal aging processes like reversion and cyclizing. You need to choose some special vulcanize system in such situation like peroxide vulcanizing system and use special antioxidant.
Except oxidative degradation resistance, if there need hydrolysis resistance
MB and MB2 offer good protection in the steam aging of dienes rubber. Rubbers contain hydrolysed gene should use carbodiimide to provide protection. You must use hydrolytic reagent in polyester materials.
