Performance Differences
Abrasion Resistance
Food grade rubber hoses have good abrasion resistance and are suitable for occasions with frequent friction. While food-grade silicone hoses have relatively poor abrasion resistance. But it is within the normal range of use.
Temperature Resistance
Silicone hoses is resistant to high and low temp. And it can work at -40℃ to 230℃. But rubber tube can not bear high and low temp as silicone pipe. It has a max working temp to 100℃.
Softness
Both of them are flexible. But silicone pipe has better hardness and is more suitable for making hoses of various shapes.
Environmental Protection
Silicone tube is eco-friendly and can be degraded after being discarded. But rubber hose is slightly inferior in this. But it is still within an acceptable range.
Application Differences
Food Processing
Rubber hoses are suitable for milk, beverage and edible oil. While silicone hose is more suitable for high temp, high humidity and highly corrosive food.
Pharmaceutical Industry
In this field, silicone hose often serves as sealing materials and drug packaging. Because it has good chemical resistance. Besides, it is nontoxic and odorless. While food grade rubber hoses often transports drug and liquid medicine.
Medical Devices
Silicone hose widely serves in medical devices such as parts of respirator, nebulizer, etc.
Chemical Industry
In the chemical industry, silicone hose is better to transport acid, alkali, and salt. Because it has excellent chemical and temperature resistance. Food grade rubber hose is more better to transport oil and solvent.
In short, there are certain differences between food-grade rubber hoses and food-grade silicone hoses in terms of materials, performance and applications. When choosing, comprehensive consideration should be given to actual needs and scenarios to ensure the safety and reliability of the product.
